Hi everyone, Dr Cris here with The Ask Dr Cris Show.  Today’s question comes from Tanya.  She would like to know if Chocolate is bad for you.

The answer is no, thank goodness, but it has to be the right type.  The best type for your health is dark cocoa.  So, 80% cocoa or more, the real dark chocolate stuff.  Not so much the white chocolate or the milk chocolate.  All chocolate has a little bit of cocoa in it which does have your antioxidants in there for health but it has to be the dark chocolate to really have the health benefit.  Do watch the amount of sugar that they do put in chocolate, so try and choose one that’s lower in sugar if you can.  But no, chocolate is not bad for you, you can have a little bit in moderation.  How much is a little bit?  I would say no more than a couple of squares a day.  Yes you can have it every day if you love it but just no more than a couple of squares.
