Hi everyone Dr Cris here with the Ask Dr Cris Show. Today’s question is about multivitamins, should we take them or should we not and which ones do we need? Very common question! A lot of the world seems to be on some sort of supplement at the moment but ideally you get everything you need from the food that we eat. Unfortunately some of the things that we should have in our diet are lacking either due to soil quality or due to our diet in general and so before you jump on to having a multivitamin it maybe worth on having things tested by your local Doctor to see if you actually are deficient in anything in particular B Vitamin, Iodine, Vitamin D, Iron and even Selenium and Zinc are common as well and Iodine. It is certainly worth having those checked before you jump on having a multivitamin. They’re not for everyone, there is some research to show that potentially multivitamins can worsen your health if you’ve got a chronic health condition, so they’re really not a one-size-fits-all.  It’s worth having it tailored and seeing someone that understands multivitamins and understands vitamins in general to know which one is right for you.
